PostHog

Connect PostHog to Analytra—checklist, API key, sync, and troubleshooting.

PostHog Connector Setup Guide

Want product analytics that actually talks back? Connect PostHog to Analytra and your user signals will start flowing in automatically — no CSV juggling, no "wait… which dashboard is the truth?" moments.

Once connected, we sync your PostHog data into Analytra so you can read what users are doing (and respond with intention).

Before you start (the tiny checklist)

You'll need:

  • PostHog admin access
  • Your PostHog instance URL
    • Example: https://eu.posthog.com (EU cloud)
  • A PostHog Private API key (starts with phx_)

If you have those three, you're basically done already.

Okidoki — let's connect it step-by-step:

Find your PostHog API key (the treasure hunt, but short)

  1. Log in to PostHog
  2. Click your profile picture (top right)
  3. Go to Settings
  4. Open Project Settings
  5. Click Project API Keys
  6. Copy your Private API Key (starts with phx_)

Connect PostHog to Analytra (2 minutes, max)

  1. In Analytra, go to Data Sources (left sidebar)
  2. Click Connect New Source
  3. Select PostHog
  4. Fill in:
    • API Key: paste your Private API Key
    • PostHog URL: paste your instance URL
  5. Click Connect

Boom. Sync starts.

What data gets synced

Once connected, Analytra can sync:

  • Events
  • Users
  • Feature Flags
  • Cohorts
  • Insights
  • Annotations

The first sync can take a few minutes, depending on how much data PostHog has collected (aka: how long you've been tracking everything 👀).

Rate Limits and Data Refresh

  • Data syncs daily by default
  • We import up to the last 12 months of historical data by default (if available)

Troubleshooting (aka: the three usual suspects)

If the connection fails, it's almost always one of these:

  • Wrong API key (make sure it's the Private API key)
  • Wrong instance URL (EU vs US matters)
  • PostHog isn’t reachable from your network right now

Fix those, retry, and you’re back in business.

Security note

Your PostHog API key is encrypted and stored securely. (We take keys seriously. No "sticky note on monitor" energy here.)
