Google Analytics (GA4) Connector Setup Guide

Want your GA4 insights in Analytra (without getting lost in ten GA4 menus and a mild identity crisis)? Connect once — and we'll sync your GA4 data automatically.

Before you start (tiny checklist)

You'll need:

  • A Google Analytics 4 (GA4) property
  • A Google account with Viewer access (or higher) to that GA4 property
  • Your GA4 Property ID (9 digits)

Find your GA4 Property ID

  1. Sign in to Google Analytics
  2. Go to Admin (gear icon, bottom-left)
  3. In the Property column, select the property you want to connect
  4. Under Property Settings, find Property ID (9 digits: XXXXXXXXX)
  5. Copy it

    • Property ID: your 9-digit GA4 Property ID

What data gets synced

Once connected, Analytra can sync:

  • Daily active users
  • Sessions
  • Page views
  • Events
  • User properties
  • Conversion events
  • E-commerce data (if configured)
  • Campaign data
  • Traffic source data

The first sync may take a few hours, depending on how much data your GA4 property contains.

Rate Limits and Data Refresh

  • Data syncs daily by default
  • GA4 data typically has a 24–48 hour reporting delay (normal GA4 behavior)
  • We import up to the last 12 months of historical data by default (if available)

Troubleshooting (the usual suspects)

If the OAuth connection fails:

  • Make sure you're using the correct Google account
  • Confirm you have Viewer access (or higher) on the GA4 property
  • Try clearing cache/cookies or use an incognito window

If no data shows up:

  • Confirm your GA4 property is actively collecting data
  • Double-check the Property ID is correct
  • Make sure the property has data within the sync timeframe

If data seems incomplete:

  • Confirm the events are actually being tracked in GA4
  • Check custom dimensions/metrics are configured correctly (if you use them)
  • Allow 24–48 hours for newer data to appear in reports

Security note

Your Google Analytics credentials are encrypted and stored securely. Authentication happens through Google's own servers — we never see or store your Google password. Data is handled in line with Google Analytics Terms of Service.

Best practices (quick wins)

  • Verify your GA4 setup is working correctly
  • Track your key events (and name them consistently)
  • Make sure conversions are marked correctly in GA4
